# Final settlement

> How property proceeds should be reconciled before claims are paid.

Closeout starts with actual funds and obligations: completed sale receipts, taxes and closing costs, unpaid work, financing claims, required reserves, and the distribution order in the project terms. A projected valuation does not fund a payout.

Before a distribution opens, the project should publish a reconciled statement showing the amount allocated to each class, the eligible supply, each holder's entitlement, any credits used toward a property purchase, and a challenge process. Payment must be funded and each claim satisfied at most once.

If a holder used part of a final entitlement as a property purchase credit, that value is removed from the cash owed to that holder. The remaining holders do not inherit the credited claim simply because its associated Brikks were burned.

A failed project needs a recovery closeout as well as a successful one. The same accounting should show how much was recovered, what claims rank ahead of participation, and whether the residual is zero.
